Goose & Bloom and Rideau Riveter Branding
This branding project was for a brewery dedicated to crafting distinctive, thoughtful beers that celebrate community and inclusivity. The goal was to design beer cans that reflect Ottawa’s unique identity, history, and natural beauty. Goose & Bloom Ale symbolizes the region’s migratory geese and vibrant flora, while Rideau Riveter honours Ottawa’s industrial heritage and the strength of its workers. Targeting a diverse, beer-loving audience, the designs were inspired by quality and inclusivity. Research included analyzing clean, accessible designs and drawing from Ottawa’s cultural and natural landmarks to create meaningful visuals.

From Sketch to Shelf: The Creation of Goose & Bloom and Rideau Riveter
The design process for these beer cans began with extensive brainstorming and sketching, focusing on Ottawa’s natural and industrial heritage. Early drafts explored various symbols and styles, evolving into designs that balance elegance and storytelling. The project required experimentation to integrate accessible aesthetic with compelling narratives. Feedback emphasized alignment with inclusive and community-centred values, leading to subtle refinements in colour and typography. Adjustments ensured that the final designs captured both titles' symbolic meanings—Goose & Bloom’s nature-inspired vibrance and Rideau Riveter’s industrial strength—resulting in beer cans that resonate with both heritage and modernity.
Heritage and Nature in Every Sip: The Final Outcome
The final designs for Goose & Bloom and Rideau Riveter successfully reflect Ottawa’s unique identity, blending natural beauty and industrial heritage. If I were to approach the project again, I might explore bolder typography or experiment with textured finishes to enhance the tactile experience. However, I’m proud of the thoughtful and polished outcome that resonates with both the vision and its audience.
